Philly is done and dusted for another year,
and now we are en route to Tulsa…just a quick and easy 21 hour dive from
philly! Currently we are on our 3rd and final day of travel. To make
things easier though we have a new team van, named Sharon (Shazza for short),
she has done a pretty solid job so far, racking up the number of states, so far
this season we have been to 12 states….and the list is growing by the day.
Philly was awesome, such a cool race, probably
one of my favorites! This year we started 11am, a couple of hours later to what
we normally start which made all the difference in terms of atmosphere and rowdiness
on the “wall” and around the course. The crowds are normally pretty mega, but normally
for the women’s race only the last lap had the full impact of he crowd as we
started so early, but this year the crowd was awesome from start to finish! It
was so loud up the wall your ears would be ringing the whole way down the down
hill…it was awesome!
This year there were 128 starters. I felt
really good during the race, especially up the wall, and managed to stick with
the small lead group every time over the top, but every lap the majority of the
field would catch back on due to the nature of the course.
It came down to a bunch sprint, I saw
Bronzinis (world champs) wheel, and stuck my self like glue to her as I new she
would finish well (as she won the previous year) unfortunately the sprint is so
hard to get right at Philly, it was pretty messy, and about 50m from the line I
got cut of completely and had to slam on my break…ruining any momentum I had,
and I ended up in 15th. The sprint
at Philly definitely gets you thinking about what else you could of done
differently and adds a lot of experience to what fast dodgy fast finishes are all about. I already cant wait for next year!!!
Pictures to come J
Next up is Tulsa tough and then Nature
Valley
